We are looking for a Teacher Assistant Counselor (TAC) to serve our non-public school, which provides services to approximately 60 children every day. Many of our students struggle with severe emotional and psychological challenges and require the focused attention of our committed staff. A TAC will serve as an assistant teacher and tutor for all educational subjects covered in the classrooms and provide support for behavioral interventions as needed. In addition to running classrooms when the Teacher may be required elsewhere, the TAC will participate in treatment team meetings and follow through on implementation of treatment plans and other treatment team decisions. The Teacher Assistant Counselor will assist the Teacher in the maintenance of order in the classrooms and complete all assigned paperwork in a thorough and timely fashion. The TAC must have the flexibility to assume different roles within the classroom of a treatment facility and be willing to take on other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
This position requires a Bachelors degree and work experience in a residential, school, day care or child centered agency, preferably devoted to children with special needs. Significant past experience may be considered in place of a BA. In addition, the TAC must have a valid California driver's license, successful written and oral communication skills, and the capacity to serve clients from diverse backgrounds.
