This position will provide therapeutic and educational support services to children in our day treatment program.  The MHS will maintain assigned group’s therapeutic milieu continuously during day treatment intensive hours by being present and available to meet the mental health needs of the clients to ensure continuous, daily day treatment intensive services.  Working with multidisciplinary milieu staff, the Mental Health Specialist will help develop and carry out skill building curriculum as part of the consistent delivery of day treatment intensive services.  Other duties include coordinating crisis intervention, monitoring and coaching implementation of individualized behavioral support plans, and ensuring consistent and timely completion of daily mental health progress notes.

Minimum Requirements

• A BA in a mental health related field and 4 years of full-time experience in a mental health setting (or an AA with 6 years of full-time experience)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Effective therapeutic intervention skills with children wo may, at tmes, be volatile and potentially assaultive
