The IT Helpdesk/Desktop Support Technician will troubleshoot, resolve and coordinate resolution of hardware, software, and telecommunications problems; provide technical information and support; create and close customer accounts such as Active Directory, Exchange Email Server, VPN; troubleshoot desktop and printer connectivity problems; inform and educate departmental staff on procedures for accessing Information System Department's customer support Services; maintain database of users for internal systems; work with customers over the phone to answer questions, troubleshoot problems, and general help desk responsibilities; and perform other duties as assigned.  Under the direction of the Director, the incumbent will work as a member of the Information Technology (IT) team to support and maintain desktop computers and software;  image and restore desktop computers to established minimum specifications; serve as primary telephone support technician and troubleshoot problems; keep hardware and software inventory relating to desktop computers; serve as primary technical support for incoming help desk phone and requests for assistance; monitor tickets to other IT staff based on established policy and procedures from Director; support, maintain, install and upgrade third party client-server software, including but not limited to HR Perspective, ADP Payroll, and Blackbaud Raiser's Edge. 

Minimum Requirements

  • A B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent and a minimum of two years of experience in a related technical field.
  • Extensive knowledge of PC hardware, software and operating systems (Windows 2000, XP, Mac OS X, Microsoft Server 2003/2008)
  • Ability to install, configure, and deploy Windows XP desktops and laptops  
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
