Edgewood Center for Children and Families, the oldest children's charity west of the Mississippi, is seeking a Director of Development. Edgewood provides behavioral health, family support, and education services to over 5000 children and families in San Francisco and San Mateo Counties. Reporting to the CEO, the Director of Development provides leadership, management and coordination of fundraising efforts, in close collaboration with the Executive Team, the Board of Directors, the Auxiliary, and program staff. The Director of Development is responsible for developing and leading a cohesive staff team, which implements a comprehensive fundraising program focused on individual giving, corporate and community engagement, foundation grants, and events. To be successful, the Director will have strong organizational, interpersonal, project management and communication skills, collaborate well with diverse constituent groups, and have a passion for the agency's mission and values.
This position will be based out of the Vicente Street campus in San Francisco and will require regular travel to our San Mateo program locations. We provide excellent benefits, competitive salary, and a positive working environment.
Essential Functions
- Providing leadership and personnel management of Development staff
- Direct, coordinate and execute all fundraising activities
- Professionally represent Edgewood's Development department to internal and external constituencies
- Monitor, adjust and ensure attainment of annual budget; manage expenses according to approved budget, consistent with the agency's policies and procedures, and in alignment with the agency's business model
- Maintain and cultivate sensitivity to and awareness of the cultural diversity of clients, employees and potential donors.
Minimum Qualifications
- Significant nonprofit fundraising experience with a human service agency;
- Demonstrated strategic and operational management skills;
- Demonstrated success with establishing stewardship and donor recognition programs that sustain long term relationships;
- Demonstrated success in developing and leading a broad-based fundraising program;
- A track record as an exceptional communicator in writing as well as verbally;
- Intellectual depth, maturity and collaborative skills to garner the trust and confidence of senior management staff, volunteers, donors and the Board;
- Knowledge of the usage of Raiser's Edge;
- Sensitivity to the cultural diversity of employees and clients;
- A BA degree is required for the position; a Master's degree is highly desirable.
