Non Public School Referral Process
Edgewood's Day Treatment Program and Non Public School accepts referrals from departments of social service, health, mental health, and probation; juvenile courts; schools; parents; and other mental health facilities, such as hospitals and other placement institutions.
The appropriateness of the child for the Day Treatment Program is based on the following criteria:
- The primary diagnosis shall indicate moderate to severe psychiatric difficulty, which is not manageable within the child's home, community or public school (i.e., less restrictive settings)
- The child is not physically handicapped to an extent that would restrict participation in the physical activity that is part of the program.
- The child is determined to require assessment, support and stabilization, or long-term treatment.
- The child's problems are likely to respond to a program of psychosocial, psychiatric, and educational intervention
Exclusionary Criteria

- History of sexual predatory behavior;

- Pregnant teens, or teens with babies; and
- Youth who have alcohol and/or drug addictions.
