parent university
Edgewood was selected by the Mayor’s Communities of Opportunity (COO) Initiative as the lead agency in providing Parent University in San Francisco’s Bayview/ Hunters Point community. Parent University offerings include parenting classes, support groups, family fun nights, GED classes, community celebrations, cooking classes, crisis intervention, information and referral, and access to emergency funding. Parent University makes a particular effort to reach out to the most isolated parents, such as the neighborhood’s youngest parents, fathers, and parents with special health care needs. To build relationships and strengthen community leadership, Edgewood ensures that neighborhood residents are central to the planning and program implementation for Parent University.
