Derby Days themed-Event to Benefit Edgewood Center for Children and Families
The Edgewood Auxiliary will host the 49th annual Edgewood Fair on May 5 and 6 at the Golden Gate Club in the Presidio of San Francisco. Approximately 500 guests will partake in this year’s “Derby Days” themed event which starts with an evening soiree on May 5, complete with Southern music and faire, cocktails, and a not-to-be missed silent auction. Guests will also partake in the Fair’s one-of-a-kind shopping marketplace with over 50 distinctive vendors from around the country. On the second day, hat-bedecked luncheon guests will enjoy an inspirational program led by retired San Francisco Superior Court Judge Katherine Feinstein (Ret.). Proceeds will benefit Edgewood Center for Children and Families.
“The Auxiliary loves throwing this fundraising party, and we are proud that the proceeds from this event will help kids who are overcoming significant emotional problems, trauma, and other adverse conditions,” said Kathleen Darling, president of the Edgewood Auxiliary.
The Golden Gate Club will be transformed into a Kentucky Derby setting beginning at 6 p.m. on May 5 for a Southern-themed cocktail party with culinary delights provided by Presidio Foods Catering and libations by Anchor Brewing Company and local wineries. During the evening guests can shop from 50 distinctive exhibitors of the Edgewood Fair Marketplace including specialists in jewelry, home furnishings, and fashions for the entire family. The silent auction will offer guests a chance to bid on trips to far-away places, outdoor experiences, and wonderful wine excursions.
The fun continues on May 6 with the signature Fair luncheon beginning at 12:00 p.m. with entrées offered by Chef Michael Daley of Presidio Foods Catering. The keynote speaker for the luncheon will be Judge Katherine Feinstein who retired as presiding Judge of the San Francisco Superior Court after serving 12 years on the Court. Prior to her appointment to the bench, Feinstein led the Children & Family Services Team of the City Attorney’s Office, representing the interests of abused and neglected children in juvenile dependency and family law courtroom proceedings, having begun this work in private practice. She was a member of the county’s Child Death Review and the Suspected Child Abuse & Neglect Committees.
Guests will also enjoy a full day of shopping from the Edgewood Fair Marketplace exhibitors between 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The two-day event will be produced by J. Riccardo Benavides of IDEAS.
Edgewood and the Auxiliary extend special thanks to all of the sponsors of this year’s Fair including “Thoroughbreds” ($10,000+) level sponsors Dodge & Cox, Emilie and Andrew Lynch, and Susan and Bill Oberndorf, and “Stallions and Mares” ($5,000) level sponsors Linda and Thomas Coates.
