THE EDGEWOOD AUXILIARY PRESENTS THE 44TH ANNUAL EDGEWOOD FAIR, MAY 4 & 5

For Immediate Release
March 30, 2010

SAN FRANCISCO — The Edgewood Auxiliary will host its 44th Annual Edgewood Fair “Rock the Casbah” on May 4 and 5 at the Presidio's Golden Gate Club. This venerable San Francisco tradition, a lavish two-day fundraiser, will benefit the Edgewood Center for Children and Families and its programs that support Bay Area children and families in crisis. The Edgewood Fair features both a fabulous evening affair with a VIP reception, gourmet food and drinks as well as a shopping bazaar and luncheon.

The Edgewood Fair begins on Tuesday, May 4 with The Party, held from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. This evening affair will feature a VIP reception, exquisite Mediterranean food provided by McCall’s Catering, exotic belly dancers, palm readers and henna tattoo artists. Music will be provided by The Other Woman and DJ L and there also will be an extraordinary silent auction including an array of fabulous items. The shopping bazaar will feature more than 50 unique vendors from around the country including returning favorites like Liz Logie, Rocks with Soul, CJ Laing and Kathy Kamei Designs and new vendors including Jennifer Tuton Jewelry, Kiwi Activewear and 1G Collection Luxury Handbags.

The Fair continues on Wednesday, May 5 with The Lunch. A delicious seated lunch, prepared by Comforts Catering, will be followed by a wonderful talk by this year’s guest speaker Christine Carter.  Christine serves as the Executive Director of UC Berkeley's Greater Good Science Center which examines the underpinnings of happiness, compassion, social bonding and altruism in children, and how their parents can affect these traits.  She also is the author of "Raising Happiness: 10 Simple Steps for More Joyful Kids and Happier Parents." Attendees will enjoy another day of the shopping bazaar from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Corporate sponsors of the 2010 Edgewood Fair include ($20,000+) Friends of Edgewood; ($10,000+) The Chill Foundation, Verizon and WDFA Marketing; ($5,000+): British Motor Car Distributors, Ltd., EGG Foundation and The McKenzie Foundation of San Francisco; ($2,000+) CAL Insurance & Associates, Inc., Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP, Wells Fargo and Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati Foundation.

The Edgewood Fair began as a modest event hosted by the Auxiliary to buy holiday gifts for Edgewood's children. Today the Fair is a major fundraiser that raises approximately $400K each year for the organization. The Fair is attended by hundreds of San Francisco’s young and socially active business and civic leaders.
