Edgewood Earns Joint Commission Accreditation

June 10, 2015

Since 1851, we have been committed to helping youth stay safe and healthy through the highest quality services.  We have adapted as the community’s needs have evolved over the past 164 years, while always keeping up with best practices.  We aspire to provide the most positive impact and to be a premier provider of mental and behavioral health services for children, youth, and families in the Bay Area.

In May, we received some fantastic news - Edgewood earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for Behavioral Health Care Accreditation by demonstrating continuous compliance with its performance standards. The Gold Seal of Approval® is a symbol of quality that reflects an organization's commitment to providing safe and effective care.

In March, we underwent a rigorous on-site survey. After almost a week on site, the surveyor praised the passion of the staff and our overall culture, telling us we “clearly have a trauma-informed culture, with shared responsibility and commitment to our mission.” I couldn’t have been more thrilled with this comment, as so many of our youth and families – and many of the communities we serve – have experienced significant trauma, ranging from abuse to neighborhood violence to the stigma of mental illness.  It was incredibly validating to hear that we have incorporated our understanding and sensitivity of trauma, and its impact on development, into everything we do.

I’m extremely proud of our staff who gives so much of themselves to help our clients.  I’m also grateful to you who support and partner with us; together we transform the lives and restore the hope to the most vulnerable in our community.
