The Kinship Support Services Program (KSSP) is funded by the State of California in partnership with counties and non-profit agencies to provide support services to caregivers who are raising a child of a relative. Twenty counties are currently participating in KSSP (see orange colored counties on map).
The California Kinship Navigator Program is funded by a federal grant to provide kinship caregivers throughout California with FREE confidential and personalized telephone support to identify localized referrals and resources for a healthy and happy home.
These programs often ensure that in the absence of one or both biological parents the children can remain in the care of family and within their own communities. Both programs provide kinship caregivers with the information and support they need to be self-sufficient, sustainable families and thriving community members.
